Loch Rio
Loch Rio is the oldest and most well known program that Girlstown offers, successfully serving over 500 adolescent females since inception.
The Loch Rio program is a Residential Program that offers therapeutic residential care for girls ranging from 12 to 17 years of age referred for emotional/and or behavioral problems that impact their ability to live in the community.
Each resident accepted for residential services receives a highly concentrated and comprehensive individualized treatment program that is both client-centered and family focused.
Foster Care
The Girlstown Foundation Foster Care Program provides services to children birth through eighteen years of age. The program is designed to provide a nurturing setting for children who are either temporarily or permanently unable to return to their family of origin.
Girlstown Foundation provides support services and ongoing training opportunities for foster families who care for youth as they work toward reunification and permanency planning with their biological family. We also provide case management services to support, plan and consult with the foster family, the biological family, and the referring agency carry out treatment planning.
Supervised Independent Living
Girlstown Foundation’s Supervised Independent Living Program is designed to assist young adults in developing independent living skills, enhancing educational / vocational and career choices while offering employment opportunities. This program is designed to service youth 16 to 21 years of age who are physically and emotionally able to master the skills and experiences offered. The clients referred to this program must have a demonstrated history of functioning at a level appropriate for community based living.
Clients are placed in homes with adult mentors or in independent housing. In addition, they must have completed high school and/or, at admission, be enrolled in an academic / vocational program. The youth must be job ready or currently employed.
The SIL program takes a two-track approach to community living by offering two distinct and separate services. Young adults, age 16 & 17, may need continued adult support and guidance. For those youth, the WIN SITE track (Working for Independence Now) may be the most appropriate choice for placement. WIN SITE places you in a home with an adult mentor who assists you in building independent living skills. For youth who are 18 years or older, the COMMUNITY LIVING track may be a more appropriate placement. COMMUNITY LIVING is an independent placement with Case Management support only
